How do I set up call forwarding on COSMOTE (Telekom)?

Published:

You simply dial a code: *21*number# for all calls, *61* when you don’t answer, *67* when you’re on another call, *62* when the phone is switched off — and ##002# to cancel them all at once. The codes are based on the GSM standard and stay the same even after COSMOTE’s renaming to Telekom. The only thing that needs care is voicemail, which is often already switched on and “beats” your own forwarding to the call.

The codes for a COSMOTE mobile

The call forwarding codes are not a COSMOTE invention. They are part of the GSM standard and work exactly the same on every Greek network. You type them on the dial screen and press the call button: you are not really phoning anyone, you are sending a command to the network.

The company’s official guide to call forwarding from a mobile now lives in the help.telekom.gr support centre — alongside a separate article for landlines. If a code doesn’t work, you will find the answer either there or at customer service.

COSMOTE or Telekom? What changed in 2026

COSMOTE is being renamed Telekom, and the support pages at help.cosmote.gr now redirect you automatically to help.telekom.gr. Where call forwarding is concerned, absolutely nothing changes: the network, the numbers and the codes stay the same. Even if you search for instructions under the old name, you will end up at the same articles.

The confusing part on COSMOTE: voicemail

The COSMOTE Mobile Voicemail guide (COSMOTE Mobile Τηλεφωνητής) holds the answer to the most common question: as soon as you sign up, forwarding to voicemail is switched on automatically — and for all three conditional forwarding cases at that. So if you set up your forwarding but calls keep ending up in voicemail, its forwarding is most likely beating yours.

  • Reset everything with ##002# and set up again only what you really need.
  • If the provider has locked it permanently, only customer service can remove it — ask them for exactly that.
  • Check with the codes *#61#, *#67#, *#62# where each type of forwarding ends up, before and after.

OTE / Telekom landline: the forwarding codes

For landlines Telekom has a separate article, “Forwarding calls from a landline to another number” («Προώθηση κλήσεων από σταθερό σε άλλο αριθμό»), with three kinds of forwarding: immediate (the call is forwarded without your phone ringing), delayed (it rings 3-5 times first and is forwarded if you don’t pick up) and forwarding when you’re on a call. The codes are the same as on a mobile: *21*number# for all calls, *61*number# when you don’t answer and *67*number# when you’re on the phone. To cancel them you dial #21#, #61# and #67# respectively. There is no *62*, since a landline is never “switched off or out of coverage”.

When you're on a call*67*number##67#*67*PIN*number# / #67*PIN#

Two things differ from a mobile. First, the service “is provided on request”: you activate it first from the Telekom App, My Telekom, 13888 or a Telekom or ΓΕΡΜΑΝΟΣ shop, and only then dial the codes. Second, the command is dialled with the line open: lift the handset, wait for the dial tone and key it in on a tone-dialling phone.

If outgoing-call barring is active you also need your PIN: *21*PIN*number# to set the forward and #21*PIN# to remove it (the same applies to *61* and *67*). The initial PIN is 1234, but it does not work until you change it by dialling *031*OLD PIN*NEW PIN*NEW PIN#.

The service itself is free, as the price list below confirms; you only pay for the forwarded leg from your landline to the forwarding number. Telekom also notes that forwarding does not work together with its Voicemail or Fax services, and that if some call categories are barred on your line (long-distance or mobile, say) you cannot forward to those numbers. When nobody is on the front desk, calls to the landline can be forwarded to an AI receptionist for your hotel instead of to voicemail.

OTE landline: what forwarding costs

OTE’s landline price list (edition of 1/1/2026) is clear: activating call diversion is free and there is no monthly fee. What is charged is the forwarded leg of the call — and it is paid by the person who set up the forwarding, not by the caller. There is only one exception: forwarding to a landline on the OTE network within the same local exchange is not charged.

In plain terms: setting up forwarding on your shop’s landline costs absolutely nothing; you pay only for the calls that are actually forwarded. See in detail what is charged and what isn’t in our guide to what call forwarding costs. If you forward those calls because you are with a client, Parousa, an AI receptionist for hair salons, can answer and book the appointment rather than leaving it to voicemail.

How to check that forwarding really works

The check codes — *#21#, *#61#, *#67#, *#62# — show you on screen whether forwarding is active and where it points. The surest test, though, is just one: call your number from another device and let it ring to the end. If voicemail picks up instead of the line you expected, some other forwarding is beating yours.

Where does an AI receptionist fit in?

Forwarding only moves the call — it doesn’t answer it. If nobody picks up at the other end either, you have simply moved the problem to a second voicemail. So if you are looking for an AI call center for your office, ask first who will answer the forwarded call.

The ideal combination for a business is to set “when you don’t answer” and “when you’re on another call” forwarding to a line that always answers. That way, if you get there in time, you pick up yourself; if not, the call is answered properly and you receive the request in writing. That is exactly what we do at Parousa — we built an AI receptionist that answers in Greek and books appointments. Your number stays the same; the only thing that changes is where the call ends up when you can’t get to it in time.

Frequently asked questions

Do the same call forwarding codes apply on COSMOTE and Telekom?

Yes, they do. Telekom is simply COSMOTE’s new name — the network, the numbers and the codes stay exactly the same. The forwarding codes are based on the GSM standard: *21*number# for all calls, *61* when you don’t answer, *67* when you’re on another call and *62* when the phone is switched off.

Why do calls go to voicemail when I have set up forwarding?

On COSMOTE, forwarding to voicemail is switched on automatically as soon as you sign up, covering all three conditional forwarding cases. The best thing you can do is clear them all with ##002# and set up again only the forwarding you really want. If the setting has been locked permanently by the provider, you will need to speak to customer service to have it removed.

Is call forwarding charged on COSMOTE?

For landlines, OTE’s price list states that activation is completely free, with no monthly fee. You are charged only for the forwarded leg of the call — unless you forward to another OTE landline on the same local exchange. On mobiles, the forwarded call is charged as normal under your plan. See in detail what call forwarding costs.

How do I turn off call forwarding on COSMOTE?

#21# turns off the permanent forwarding, #61#, #67#, #62# turn off the conditional forwarding types, and ##002# clears them all at once. See our step-by-step guide: how to turn off call forwarding.

Do the same codes work on an OTE landline?

Yes, for the three kinds that make sense on a landline: *21*number# for all calls, *61*number# when you don’t pick up and *67*number# when you’re on a call, cancelled with #21#, #61# and #67#. The difference is that you must request the service from Telekom first and dial the code with the line open. *62* does not apply to landlines.
